Our exclusive, patented film – with nano-memory technology – covers and shields your device, keeping it as pristine as the day you took it out of the box. Maximum coverage protects protects the entire device; Full body coverage protects the front screen and back; Screen coverage protects just the front screen of the iPhone 4. The precision pre-cut invisibleSHIELD applies directly to your iPhone 4, providing the toughest, most durable protection you will find. The invisibleSHIELD has its origins in the military, where it was used to protect high-speed helicopter blades from dust, dirt and debris. Now you can use that same powerful technology to protect your iPhone 4. The invisibleSHIELD is only .2 millimeters thick making it the slimmest iPhone 4 skin or cover of its kind. It is so tough that we back it with a lifetime guarantee. So, if it ever does wear or scratch, we will replace it for free, for the life of your device. And if you ever need to remove the invisibleSHIELD, no problem; it comes off clean and leaves no sticky residue. I bought this shield in store for $30 expecting it to be top notch. I’ve heard nothing but good things about ZAGG and after spending so much money on my iPhone 4 I figured what’s a little extra to keep it nice. And the ZAGG shield will keep it nice underneath. There’s no question about IF it works against keys and whatnot.

But it’s not invisible by any means. All of the bubbles never came out, front or back, and if you use it with a case, as I did, the sides of the screen protected roll up. The touch screen is not as responsive and the shield is tacky to the touch. Instead of my finger moving smoothly over the surface, it sort of skipped along, which was really frustrating when scrolling, etc.

It does the basics: protects the screen. But for the price I paid, I was definitely unhappy. Maybe for the price here on Amazon, it’ll be worth it. But beware. I took mine off after a week or two because I was so unsatisfied. Thirty bucks down the drain.

I must say that the negative reviews are somewhat unwarranted. First of all, they give you plenty of solution to do the job right. You must get your fingers wet, and BOTH sides of the protector wet before applying. And yes, you must have your phone off because you are going to be squeegeeing the solution out. I use a tissue pushed into the speaker hole to prevent solution from getting in.

The scratch resistance of this thing is remarkable. I have been able to keep one of these on for much longer than other screen protectors. Also, it has a LIFETIME warranty. You pay only shipping each time you want to replace with a new one.

I agree that there is a very slight waviness in the surface of the shield, but it does not affect the clarity of the screen.

I agree that it is not as slippery as the glass screen, but I found that wiping the surface against my cotton shirt or pants has made it much smoother in just a few days.

I purchased the custom back with a family photo printed into the shield. It really customizes the phone.

One downside about the fit, is that Zagg has made it so precise to fit right up to the edges of the phone, that when I installed the Apple bumper onto it, it was really tricky to get the bumper to settle down on top of the edge of the shield. Squeezing the bumper sometimes puts a slight bubble on the edge that I have to push down periodically.

All in all, I like this screen protector, and I like the idea that I can continually get more for shipping charges only as the screen becomes worn.

I installed the new Zagg InvisibleShield for my iPhone 4 and have not been pleased with it as I had been with other Zagg shields on several other devices I own – phones, cameras, GPS, etc. I bought the full coverage model but never got passed trying the back piece only. I got the wet install version, there’s a dry install version available at AT&T stores exclusively, not sure how that one holds up comparatively. I tried just the back first because I wanted to see how it stuck onto the iPhone 4′s glass backing with its olephobic coating (helps repel oil so fingerprints come off easily). Having installed previous shields I was able to get the shield to go on easily and get all but 2 tiny dust specs out. It did look really good right after I installed it and while I left it to dry the required minimum if 24 hours.

24 hours later I picked up the phone and inspected the installation and still looked great. I like the feel of the Zagg on the back because it offers anti-slip protection when set down on a slightly angled surface. Before my iPhone would end up on the floor if I set it on anything slightly angled. Also helps it stay in place on my center console of my truck while driving. Those pluses having been said, the negatives outweigh them by a huge amount. I used the phone around my house and set it down on a stack of books on my coffee table which had a slight angle to them. The phone held steady where before it would slowly slide off because of the glass on smooth paper. But it held steady with the Zagg shield on there. When I came back to the phone after a length period of sitting, the phone had slid relative to the shield simply because of gravity. The edge of the shield was hanging off the phone by about 1/16″. So the shield held in place relative to the book it was sitting on but the phone slid relative to the shield. I was able to push the shield back into proper place, smoothed it out, and decided to let it dry another 24 hrs thinking perhaps it had not dried enough. In the mean time I emailed Zagg about this. I got a quick auto-reply stating they’d get back to me in 2-4 days.

After another 24 hours of letting it dry I slid the phone into my pocket and went about my business. During that day I took the phone in and out of my pocket several time and each time I noticed the edges hanging off on random sides depending on how it was sitting in my pocket. By the end of the day I had pocket lint around a couple edges. I let the phone sit ANOTHER 24 hours to dry and still not improvement. When I finally got a reply from Zagg 4 days later, they told me to let the phone dry 5-7 DAYS, well beyond the 1-2 days they recommended in the instructions.

The shield got slightly better several days after installation but here it is 2 weeks later and it still slides. The other day I was outside in the TX heat, 97 degF, with the phone in my pocket and when I pulled it out, the shield had slid off about 1/4″ inch! I slid it back in place but it got lint and several bubbles under it in the process. That was the last straw. I emailed Zagg about how to refund it. Again, took 4 days to get a response but they are going to refund my money when I return it to them.

As for the orange peel factor a lot of people notice with Zagg, my back shield does have the orange peel effect but since it was the back it was not an issue for me. I did not try the front so I cannot comment on the screen clarity concern. But that would be the least of the problems if the front Zagg shield does not stay in place.

I’m going to try out the IvySkin Reception Case which comes with front and back protectors. Hopefully those will work well along with their case. I’m also interested in the PowerSupportUSA Crystal Shield but they are still a couple weeks out from being shipped.

Also waiting to see what cases Apple is going to be giving away starting late next week.

First let me start by saying that I have used Zagg invisishield on my previous iphone 3g and 3gs. Both were very superior to this crap they’re pushing out now. Seems everyone rushed to get the product out for the iphone 4 release, and put they’re reputations at risk.

This product whlie it does fit exactly to the phone, it just won’t stay put. I,ve applied the invisishield to all my kids iphone 3g’s and mine and was very pleased with them. They took a beating before they showed any signs of wear. Not with this iphone 4 shield. I applied the full body protection to both my iphone 4 and my son’s. They went on easy, no bubbles, the problem is the adhesive is obviously not string enough or never dries. Whatever the reason, they silde off with the slightest movement. Forget about putting the phone in your pocket or a case, because the shield will peel right off.

Now for the sad part. It seems Zagg is following in Apples foot steps claiming there is no problem with the shield, and blame it on applying error. That is just BS. Sure they’ll replace it for free, but you have to pay for the shipping, packaging, gas and time to take it to the shipper, etc. In other words, they know they’re getting very few back. The cost to produce these has to be next to nothing when you poduce in the volume they do. They can easily send you a replacement free without any of the above hassles.

While they did respond to my e-mail, because like another reviewer said, you won’t get them on the phone, they agreed to a ONE TIME REPLACEMENT!, providing I followed the above procedure. That’s mighty nice of them isn’t it.

I got news for them, with they’re CS and lifetime guarantee policy I’ll stick to the silicone case for $5.00. It won’t peel, won’t scratch and will last a lifetime.

Save your money and stay away at from this Zagg product. I would have given them a -5 star review if it were possible.

  5. David Sullivan says:

This was the worst purchase I’ve ever made on Amazon. The shield is hard to get into place on the iPhone 4. And in having to place and remove so many times, it got dust particles on the back of the shield that will not come off. And the feel of the shield on the phone is a “tacky”, rubbery, almost sticky texture. I eventually purchased an Incipio dermaSHOT case which comes with a sheild that is great. You can’t tell it’s on the phone.
