   There is a definitely a variation in the case manufacturing as I determined by weird coincidence by winding up with 2 cases, both clear and purchased at Best Buy. One was perfect the other suffered the complaints others had of the buttons being very difficult to push. I am guessing the version being complained about was manufactured earlier before the iPhone 4 was released and the improved version has now replaced it. Forget all the complaints about the buttons being hard to push, they push easily out of the box! Here’s how you can tell the difference in the version of the cases, the sides on the older version are clear, on the newer version they are frosted like the back. This later version fits like a glove and is perfectly easy to push the volume and sleep buttons. The mute button is uncovered and requires your nail to move in the case but it should be noted that even without a case it is not the easiest to slide. This revised case also doesn’t have the same issue as the earlier version regarding the flash as others have mentioned in reviews all over the internet, which caused reflection off the case causing undesired flash results. The case provides a good grip surface and doesn’t collect lint. I can now tell which is the front of the phone when I reach in my pocket for it. The front also provides a lip so that the screen is protected if it lies screen down on a flat surface. I also feel more comfortable on the street as the case provides a fair amount of protection for an all glass phone and it grips so much better in my hand than the slippery glass back of the iPhone. It adds only slightly to the size of the phone making it with the case more like the size of my original 2G iPhone which I have sported for 3 years caseless! Those were the days, no case required…

   This is a great case as long as you have the newer revised case which suffers from none of the complaints in reviews all over the Internet. My only complaint is that I can’t get it to fit in my iPhone 2G or universal dock with the case on… Such is the plight of the majority of cases, except for those not yet available slider cases.

   Update, As I decided I don’t like the looks of the clear case as it is not really clear but frosted and it makes the back of the phone look gray, I have returned it and just now received the Grip Vue in Black Pearl!!! I love the black, despite the back of the iPhone being less visible through the case than the clear but once again I have an all black iPhone, protected in very sharp black translucent case! I see they are now offering a nice looking blue as well… I am definitely recommending the Grip Vue, just be cautious on the clear and make sure you get the newer version.

   I just picked up the Belkin® Vue Grip yesterday from Best Buy and love it. It fits perfect and does not cover up my iPhone 4′s beautifully designed case. I almost didn’t buy it because of what people were saying about the case making it difficult to push the different buttons, but I am not having this problem at all. Maybe Belkin fixed it. I am very pleased with the look and feel of the material and the fact that it doesn’t bulk up my iPhone.

   The only thing that is keeping me from giving it 5 stars is that with the case on I can not put the phone in its dock, or attach it to my Bose® Sound Dock (Father’s Day Present from wife and kids). I don’t blame Belkin as much as I blame the dock manufacturers. Because the Vue Grip fits so tight it makes it a little difficult to take off every time I want to listen to music through the Sound Dock. Like I said, though, other than that I LOVE IT.

   I bought two of these cases and promptly returned both. The design of the case makes it very difficult to line up the buttons, including volume and power, to make then usable. While it did offer great protection the fit wasn’t there for me. I attempted to put the case on 5 times to get it to line up properly and each time one or both set of the buttons were rendered useless. You can tell it was manufactured prior to the actual phone being released due to the slightly off cuts in the plastic.

   I haven’t had any issue with what others are saying about the buttons being hard to press. This case is very slim and protective. I’m not usually a fan of silicone cases (in fact, I thought this one was hard plastic when I bought it), but this case doesn’t have the “sticky” feel that most silicone cases have. Sometimes, that makes it hard to slide in and out of my pockets, but not with this one. Another problem with other silicone cases is that the sides seem easy to peel away from the phone real easily. This case has a stiffer, tight fit so that this doesn’t happen.

   The front of the case also has a bit of a lip to it so that when you set it face-down, the screen isn’t touching the table.

   In summary, this is a very low-profile and protective case that adds a little bit of style to the phone.

   I haven’t had any trouble plugging in any of my accessories designed for my old 3GS or other iPods, either.

   EDIT: I see now that it’s actually made of thermoplastic polyutherane (TPU). I’ll be looking for cases made of this material in the future. A nice blend of silicone and plastic properties.

   I have the purple one and it looks great. The fit is perfect and I have no issues accessing ports or buttons. The plastic is just “grippy” enough to make it feel secure in my hand but I can also easily slip it into my pants pocket. If it was released in more fun colors I’d buy them too!
